Born in Odessa, Texas and raised in Austin, Will has always been someone who bets on himself. After studying wind and turbine energy at Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater, he built a diverse career in the service industry — from managing coffee shops to waiting tables across northwest Arkansas — developing the people-first philosophy that would later define his business.

In 2013, life brought Will to northwest Montana under difficult circumstances. What he found here, though, was something unexpected: a community that felt like home, a career in the flooring industry that was a perfect fit for his passion for customer service, and the woman who would become his wife, Annie. Together, they're raising two children in the Flathead Valley.

After five years learning the industry inside and out, Will saw an opportunity and did what he's always done — he went for it. In late 2021, he opened Northern Lights Design out of a small building in Lakeside. Through patience, tireless work, and an unwavering commitment to the customer experience, he grew it into one of northwest Montana's premier destinations for flooring, carpet, tile, and interior solutions.

Today, with a brand new showroom in Kalispell and an expanded team of experienced professionals, Will is just getting started. Northern Lights Design — where Flathead feels like home.

As Operations & Marketing Manager, Ben Collins brings a dynamic blend of creative storytelling and operational drive to Northern Lights Design. A graduate of the University of Arkansas with a degree in Media Communications, Ben spent four years at the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette managing social media and email campaigns while writing a weekly food news column — sharpening the digital marketing instincts he now brings to the Flathead Valley.

Ben's path to Northern Lights Design is one he describes as opportunity finding him. A lifelong friendship with founder Will Dillard — forged in the hallways of a middle school in Austin, Texas — led to an invitation to help guide the company's rapid growth through thoughtful digital strategy and operational leadership. Ben embraced the challenge and the fresh start, and hasn't looked back.

In his free time, Ben is an avid outdoorsman, a fiction writer with a passion for comic books, and a devoted companion to his dog and cat.

Ashley works in office administration, helping keep things organized and running smoothly — from managing invoices to vendor coordination. She enjoys creating structure behind the scenes and supporting both her team and clients, and is known for being detail-oriented and someone people can count on.

Born and raised in the Flathead Valley, Ashley takes pride in the life she's built here and enjoys all that Montana has to offer. Outside of work, she's a proud mom who values the everyday moments that matter most.

Justin leads our sales team with a unique advantage: years of hands-on experience in flooring installation. Specialized in luxury vinyl plank and hardwoods, his background allows him to see a project from both a design and a technical perspective.

This practical, "in-the-trenches" knowledge ensures his clients receive advice that is as functional as it is beautiful. He is known for a tireless work ethic and a rare ability to translate complex project needs into clear, confident solutions.

Away from the showroom, Justin stays active outdoors and treasures quality time with his wife and two young daughters.

Meet Gordon — 8-year-old flat coat retriever mix, Ben's right-hand man, and arguably the most handsome member of the Northern Lights Design team. With a glossy black coat, soulful eyes, and the easy confidence of a dog who has surveyed many Montana mountain views and found them satisfactory, Gordon brings a certain undeniable energy to the Lakeside showroom on the days he graces us with his presence.

His responsibilities are varied and important: greeting customers with enthusiasm, keeping Ben's office chair warm, and reminding everyone that no matter how hard the workday gets, someone in the building is absolutely thriving.

Gordon doesn't know the difference between hardwood and luxury vinyl plank, but he knows a good room when he walks into one — and frankly, his taste is impeccable.
