We do not fabricate or install countertops. Your fabricator or installer should confirm measurements, seams, edge details, support, and installation requirements. Visit the Kalispell showroom or Lakeside showroom to discuss material selection.

    Start with where the surface will be used, the look you prefer, and the maintenance you are comfortable with. Quartz offers consistent patterns and non-porous options; granite has natural variation; marble can etch and develop a patina; and porcelain performance varies by product. Confirm heat, stain, scratch, UV, and exterior-use guidance in the selected manufacturer's technical documents.

    Many engineered quartz and porcelain products are non-porous and do not require routine sealing, while natural stones can have product-specific sealing and care needs. Compare the manufacturer's care instructions for the exact slab or surface under consideration rather than relying on the material category alone.

    Outdoor suitability is product-specific. Before selecting a surface, confirm the manufacturer's written approval for exterior use, UV exposure, temperature changes, and freeze-thaw conditions. Northern Lights Design can help locate those specifications, but the fabricator or installer must confirm the complete assembly and site conditions.

    Bring room photos, approximate dimensions, your preferred material or visual direction, and your desired timing. Cabinet, flooring, paint, and backsplash samples can also help your selections relate to the rest of the room.
