Regional & Remote Project Delivery

Materials Sourced and Quoted for Remote Projects Across the Mountain West and Pacific Northwest

Northern Lights Design reviews qualified residential, trade, hospitality, rental and commercial material projects across Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota and northern California. We review products, quantities, destination, site access and required date, then confirm availability, supplier territory, pricing and quoted freight in writing.

Outside the Flathead Valley? We ship. Northern Lights Design supplies flooring and tile to homeowners, builders and designers in markets without a local showroom. Start with samples, get a written quote, and we'll arrange shipping to your project.

Shipping applies to flooring and tile; countertops, finishes and sundries are not included. Terms are confirmed in your written quote.

Materials only — Northern Lights Design does not perform installation or fabrication.

    Where We Actually Are

Two Northwest Montana Showrooms, a Columbia Falls Warehouse — and Project-Specific Delivery Beyond Them

Being straight about this matters, because it changes what you should expect. Everything we physically operate is in Northwest Montana.

    Selection and samples

    Lakeside Designer Showroom

Walk-in selection, full sample library, and hands-on comparison of flooring, tile, and slab options. Best for homeowners and designers finalizing selections in person.

    Selection and trade support

    Kalispell Showroom

Our Kalispell showroom at 141 Alden Loop supports homeowner selections plus builder and designer spec work, and account coordination.

    Receiving, staging, and local delivery

    Columbia Falls Warehouse

Material receiving, staging, attic-stock storage, and jobsite delivery within Northwest Montana. This is where local orders are consolidated before they go out.

What service looks like outside Northwest Montana

In the Flathead Valley you can visit a showroom, handle samples, pick up at a location, and take jobsite delivery from our Columbia Falls warehouse. Outside that area, service is coordination rather than local presence: we can help specify and source eligible materials, manage an accepted order, and coordinate third-party freight when availability, supplier territory, site requirements and quoted terms are confirmed in writing.

We have no branches, showrooms, warehouses, crews, installers, or delivery fleet outside Northwest Montana, and we don't claim a local presence we don't have. Where we can't serve a project well, we tell you during the review.

    Remote Project Markets

State and Corridor Areas We Review for Remote Material Projects

Northern Lights Design helps homeowners, builders, designers and property teams compare samples, select materials, confirm current pricing and lead times, and coordinate quoted project delivery from its Northwest Montana showrooms and warehouse. Remote projects are reviewed individually. Product availability, supplier territory, freight, unloading, storage, returns, warranties, installation and fabrication remain project-specific.

We review qualified residential, trade, hospitality, rental, and commercial material projects across Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and northern California. These are service-review areas, not Northern Lights Design locations.

    Service-review states

Select a state to see how remote projects there are reviewed.

    Service-review area

    Montana

Statewide review beyond the Flathead — Missoula, Bozeman, Helena, Great Falls, Billings, and rural corridors. Selections and pricing are handled remotely from Lakeside and Kalispell, with delivery quoted to the destination and required date.

    Idaho

    Service-review area

North Idaho lake and resort work plus projects further south. We review product availability by line, confirm supplier territory in writing, and quote delivery based on quantity, access, and offload capability at the site.

    Washington

    Service-review area

Residential, trade, hospitality, rental, and commercial material packages. Because freight routing and supplier territory vary by product line, availability and delivery terms are confirmed project by project before anything is released.

    Oregon

    Service-review area

Remote selection support for homes, short-term rentals, and commercial renovations. We review samples, formats, trims, and setting materials, then confirm lead times and quoted delivery for the destination.

    Wyoming

    Service-review area

Mountain-town and ranch-property material packages where long-haul freight, delivery appointments, and offload equipment drive the plan. Site conditions are reviewed before the shipment is booked.

    The Dakotas

    Service-review area

North Dakota and South Dakota projects, including multi-unit and facility work needing consistent SKUs across many spaces. Overage and replacement stock are planned at order time rather than matched later.

    Northern California

    Service-review area

Northern California projects are reviewed individually. Product line availability, supplier territory, freight assumptions, and receiving requirements are confirmed in writing before an order is released.

What a listed state does not mean

Naming a state or corridor is not a showroom, warehouse, installer, fabricator, local inventory, standard freight rate, guaranteed delivery, or supplier authorization in that destination. Coverage is confirmed project by project in writing, and a community or state name is never a promise of local stock, installation, fabrication, or standard-rate delivery.

Outside the Flathead Valley? We ship flooring and tile to your project. Terms are confirmed in your written quote.

    Confirmed in Writing

What We Confirm Before Any Material Is Released

Remote projects carry more variables than a showroom pickup, so we put the terms in writing before an order is released rather than after material is in transit.

    • Supplier territory and product availability

Whether the lines you want can be sold and shipped to your destination in your quantity, and which documented alternates apply when something is discontinued or back-ordered.

    • Sample terms

Current samples are coordinated subject to supplier terms. Availability, size, cost, deposit, shipping, and return requirements vary by supplier and product, so we confirm the process before anything is sent.

    • Freight assumptions

What the quote assumes about routing, packaging, pallet count, appointment needs, and equipment. Manufacturer-direct freight is used when available and quoted; delivery is not guaranteed until terms are confirmed in writing.

    • Receiving requirements

Who receives, counts, inspects, and signs for the shipment, and what equipment or labor the site needs to offload it.

    • Damage and shortage procedure

What to count, photograph, and note on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves, and how the claim is worked with the supplier or carrier.

    • Returns, restocking, and warranty limits

Which items are returnable, what restocking terms apply, and what each manufacturer's warranty does and does not cover.

    • Project-partner responsibilities

Installation, fabrication, receiving, unloading and storage remain with qualified project partners unless separately agreed in writing.

    • Storage and staging

Where material waits if the site isn't ready. Staging has to be arranged in advance and is not assumed on remote projects.

How new local pages get created

We publish a county or community page only when Northern Lights Design has verified operational coverage plus a real buyer, partner, completed project, qualified inquiry, or measured search demand for that area. Until then, the destination is served through this remote project review — see Libby & Lincoln County for how a reviewed remote market reads, and our locations directory for the communities served from Northwest Montana.

Reviewed remote markets with their own detail pages: Spokane, WA material supply, Bozeman & Gallatin Valley material supply, Jackson Hole, WY material supply, and Bend, OR material supply. Qualified Projects

What Kinds of Projects Fit This Program

    Good fit

    • Whole-home new construction and full remodels where material selections are being made as a package
    • Single-space residential projects with meaningful quantity — kitchens, primary baths, basements, great rooms
    • Builder and designer projects with plans, allowances, or a finish schedule to price against
    • Commercial tenant improvements, renovations, and new builds sourced from a spec or bid package
    • Multifamily unit turns and renovation programs needing consistent SKUs across many units
    • Facility, institutional, hospitality, restaurant, church, office, and retail projects with defined performance criteria
    • Reorders and attic stock for material we have previously supplied on a project

    Honest limitations

    • Requests for a delivered price without a destination ZIP, quantity, and product direction
    • Projects that need us to install, fabricate, template, or warranty labor — we supply materials only
    • Anonymous price shopping with no plans, takeoff, quantity, or timeline to quote against
    Freight & Handling

The Realities That Decide Whether a Shipment Goes Well

Where the material ships from is decided by the product

Depending on the line, an order may ship from a manufacturer, a regional distribution center, or through our Columbia Falls warehouse. That routing determines lead time, packaging, and what a delivery looks like at your site — which is why we quote it per project rather than publishing a rate.

Freight is a third-party service, not a promise we control

Long-haul and out-of-area shipments move on common carriers arranged for the order. We coordinate booking, paperwork, and scheduling, and we share the carrier's own commitments — we don't invent transit times or guarantee a delivery window on their behalf.

Slabs, tile, and heavy pallets have real handling requirements

Slab material travels on A-frames and needs equipment and people to receive it. Palletized tile and flooring can exceed what one person can offload. Tell us in the form whether the site has a dock, a forklift, or needs liftgate service so the shipment is booked for what actually exists on site.

Someone has to receive, inspect, and sign for the shipment

Freight damage and shortage claims depend on what the receiver notes at delivery. We tell you what to count, what to photograph, and what to write on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves — but the person on site has to do it.

Acclimation and storage happen at your site

Wood and some resilient products need conditioned storage before installation. Plan a dry, secured, climate-appropriate space at the destination; a jobsite delivery is not a warehouse.

Attic stock is cheaper to buy now than to match later

Dye lots, production runs, and entire product lines change. On any project shipping out of area, we plan overage and replacement stock at order time rather than hoping to match it later.

    Who Owns What

    Materials-Only Responsibility, Stated Plainly

    Northern Lights Design

    • Product selection and specification support
    • Availability, lead time, and alternate review
    • Quantity review against plans or your takeoff, plus overage and attic stock
    • Quoted materials with freight and handling for your destination
    • Order placement, tracking, and delivery coordination
    • Shortage and freight-damage claims with the supplier or carrier
    • Documentation of what each manufacturer's warranty covers

    Your team

    • Installation and fabrication, including templating and seam layout
    • Substrate preparation, moisture testing, and site conditions
    • Receiving, counting, inspecting, and signing for the shipment
    • Equipment or labor to offload where no dock or forklift exists
    • Conditioned, secured storage and acclimation at the site
    • Installation schedule, sequencing, and labor warranty

We coordinate with your installer or fabricator on quantities, formats, trims, setting materials, and delivery timing so the right material arrives before their start date. We do not hire, schedule, supervise, or warranty their labor — and any installer referral is a starting point for your own vetting, not an endorsement.

    Qualification Process

Six Steps From Inquiry to Delivered Material

    1. 1. Submit the project

Audience, delivery ZIP, residential or commercial, project type, product categories, approximate quantity, plans or takeoff status, delivery-site conditions, installer status, and the date material is required on site.

    2. 2. Feasibility review

We check whether the products you want are available in your quantity, whether the lines we carry can ship to your destination, and whether your on-site date is realistic given current lead times. If it isn't a fit, we say so instead of stringing it out.

    3. 3. Product and quantity confirmation

We confirm selections, formats, and trim or transition pieces, review your takeoff or estimate quantities from plans, and set overage and attic stock.

    4. 4. Quoted materials and freight

You get a written quote for materials with freight and handling shown for your destination and site conditions, plus the validity window on pricing.

    5. 5. Order, staging, and scheduling

On approval we place the order, track production and release dates, and coordinate delivery scheduling with your site contact and your installer's sequence.

    6. 6. Delivery, inspection, and reorders

We tell you how to receive and document the shipment, resolve shortages or damaged material with the supplier or carrier, and keep the order record for reorders and attic stock.

    Common Questions

Regional & Remote Project Delivery Questions FAQ

Yes, for qualified projects. Our three physical locations are all in Northwest Montana — showrooms in Lakeside and Kalispell and a warehouse in Columbia Falls. Projects in other Montana communities, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and northern California are reviewed individually; eligible projects are served through coordinated manufacturer and distributor shipping plus third-party freight to your site. We don't have branches, crews, or trucks outside Northwest Montana.

No. Start with samples, then we prepare a written quote for your flooring or tile and arrange shipping to your project. Terms are confirmed in your written quote.

No. Northern Lights Design is a specialty materials supplier — we do not perform installation or fabrication. We own selection, specification support, sourcing, quantity review, order management, and delivery coordination. Installation and fabrication are performed by your own installer, fabricator, or general contractor.

Tell us in the form. We can point you toward independent installers and fabricators to contact, but we don't hire, schedule, supervise, or warranty their work — your agreement is directly with them. Out of area, we'd generally expect you to already have a contractor or installer lined up, since we can't vouch for labor in markets where we don't operate.

It depends on the product, where it ships from, the weight and pallet count, your destination, and site access — so we quote it per project rather than publishing rates or transit times. Any commitment we pass along comes from the manufacturer, distributor, or carrier handling your order.

We don't publish a minimum. Tell us the products and approximate quantities, and shipping is priced in your written quote. Terms are confirmed in your written quote.

At minimum: destination ZIP, residential or commercial, the product categories you're considering, approximate quantity or square footage, delivery-site conditions such as dock or liftgate needs, and the date material is required on site. Plans, a takeoff, or a finish schedule make the quote significantly more accurate.

Sample availability varies by manufacturer and product line, and some slab and natural stone material has to be evaluated on the actual slab. Ask us on the project review and we'll tell you honestly which of your selections can be sampled and which need in-person or supplier-side verification.

We work the claim with the supplier or carrier, and the outcome depends on documentation at delivery. Count the shipment, photograph any damage, and note it on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves. Warranties on the material itself are the manufacturer's, and we tell you what each product's warranty covers before you buy.

Yes, on the same terms. Send a finish schedule, spec section, or bid package and we return availability, lead times, documented alternates where something is discontinued or back-ordered, and quoted materials with freight to your site. Sector-specific detail lives on our commercial pages for hospitality, restaurants, churches, offices, multifamily, and facilities.

Sometimes, and it has to be arranged in advance. Staging capacity at our Columbia Falls warehouse is limited and applies mainly to regional work; for out-of-area projects, storage generally has to happen at or near your site. Ask before you order rather than after material ships.

Submit a project delivery review with your delivery ZIP, project details, and required on-site date, or call (406) 314-8713. A team member follows up within one business day with what we can source, what we can confirm, and what we can't.
