    About Emser Tile

Emser Tile states that it was established in 1968 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, describing itself as a designer, marketer and producer of tile and natural stone. Its site lists 78 showrooms and 4 distribution centers across the country.

Emser publishes porcelain, ceramic, metal, glass, quarry, decorative accents and mosaics, cut-to-size natural stone, and setting materials. Named glass mosaic collections include Entity, Infinity, Lucente, Vogue and Unique; porcelain series include Sterlina II™ and Contessa™/Dama.

Rather than publishing one site-wide performance number, Emser posts a technical specifications page and per-series spec sheets tested to ASTM standards: abrasion resistance (C1027), breaking strength (C648), chemical resistance (C650), water absorption (C373), DCOF (ANSI A137.1) and MOHS scratch hardness. Emser also runs an educational page explaining DCOF testing with the BOT-3000.

    Caring for Emser Tile

    • Emser's published porcelain and ceramic routine is a damp sponge mop, with a solution of 1/4 cup white vinegar to 2 gallons of water, or sweeping/vacuuming.
    • Emser states that sealing all natural stone is highly recommended, and publishes separate natural stone and countertop care guides.
    • Emser's own documentation notes that new holes may appear in a portion of a travertine floor in the first 12–18 months and treats this as a normal characteristic rather than a defect — worth knowing before selecting travertine.

    Emser Tile FAQs

Can Northern Lights Design help with commercial Emser orders?+

Yes. We work with general contractors and designers on commercial Emser specs throughout Montana. Contact our team to discuss project sourcing and current account terms.

Where do I find the DCOF or PEI rating for an Emser tile?+

Emser publishes those values on the spec sheet for each individual series rather than as one company-wide number, and explains the testing method on its DCOF/BOT-3000 page. Tell us the series you're considering and we'll pull the current spec sheet.

Does Emser natural stone need to be sealed?+

Emser states that sealing all natural stone is highly recommended, and publishes dedicated natural stone maintenance and countertop care guides along with an MIA-referenced homeowner's guide to natural stone countertops.
