Luxury Vinyl Guide
Luxury Vinyl Tile Flooring
Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is vinyl flooring in tile shapes, usually with a stone, concrete or ceramic look. It is built like luxury vinyl plank, with a printed design layer under a clear wear layer.
We carry luxury vinyl from Shaw, TRUCOR, Hallmark and Raintree, among others, in plank and tile formats.
LVT vs LVP
The materials are the same; the shape and look differ. LVP mimics wood planks, LVT mimics tile and stone. Some LVT is designed to be grouted for a more realistic tile look.
Cores: rigid and flexible
Rigid-core (SPC or WPC) LVT usually clicks together as a floating floor and bridges small subfloor imperfections. Flexible glue-down LVT is thinner and common in commercial spaces. Check the product's approved installation methods.
Wear layer
The wear layer, measured in mils, protects the print. Thicker wear layers suit busier rooms. Compare the wear layer and warranty for the exact product you are considering.
LVT vs real tile
LVT is warmer and softer underfoot, quieter and usually quicker to install. Porcelain tile is harder, more heat and scratch resistant and very long lasting. See our vinyl vs tile comparison for room-by-room guidance.
