    Common Questions

    Bathroom Tile FAQ

Porcelain tile with a DCOF rating of 0.42 or higher is the best all-around bathroom floor for Montana homes — it's waterproof, durable, slip-safe when wet, and compatible with radiant floor heat. For showers, smaller mosaics offer better grip and conform to slope.

Tile material in our showroom typically runs $5–$25 per square foot for porcelain and $8–$40+ per square foot for natural stone and designer mosaics. Installed cost depends on prep work, shower waterproofing, niches, and pattern complexity. We're happy to walk through options for any budget.

Porcelain is non-porous, easier to maintain, and now visually indistinguishable from marble in most settings — a great choice for busy bathrooms. Natural stone (true marble, travertine, slate) is unmatched for unique veining and warmth but requires periodic sealing. Many of our clients combine both: porcelain on the floor, real stone as a feature wall.

Epoxy grout or premium urethane grout is our standard recommendation for shower walls and floors. They resist staining, mildew, and water absorption far better than standard cement grout. Mid-tone grays and warm taupes hide everyday wear better than pure white.
