Tile Guide

    Shower Tile Ideas

The best shower tile ideas start with how the shower is used: a curbless walk-in, a tub-shower in a kids' bath or a spa-style primary shower. The photos on this page are real projects, not renderings.

We supply shower tile from brands including Daltile and Bedrosians, plus Schluter waterproofing and trim.

    Walk-in shower tile ideas

    • Run the same tile from the bathroom floor into a curbless shower with a linear drain.
    • Use large-format porcelain on the walls for fewer grout lines.
    • Add a glass panel instead of a full enclosure to keep the tile visible.
    • Tile a bench or ledge in the same material as the walls.

    Subway tile shower ideas

Subway tile is a lasting choice because it works in many styles. The layout changes the look more than the tile does.

    • Classic offset (running bond) for a traditional look.
    • Stacked vertically to make a ceiling feel taller.
    • Herringbone on an accent wall or niche.
    • Contrasting grout to show the pattern, matching grout to calm it.

    Niches, accents and trim

A recessed niche keeps bottles off the floor; plan its height and size before tiling. Metal edge trims, such as Schluter profiles, give a clean finish at outside corners and tile edges.

    Natural stone and stone-look porcelain

Marble and other natural stones bring real variation but need sealing and gentle cleaners. Marble-look porcelain gives a similar look with less maintenance.
